Who we are
8848 Lab ("8848 Lab", "we", "us", or "our") operates Himalaya, a deployment platform, and Peak, its command-line interface. We're based in Nepal. This policy explains what information we collect through Himalaya, Peak, and this website, and what we do with it.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with GitHub, we receive your
GitHub user ID, username, email address, and avatar, plus an access token
scoped to
repoandread:user. We use that token to read the repositories you connect, create deployment webhooks, and post commit statuses back to GitHub. - Project data. The source code you deploy — via
peak deployor a connected GitHub repository — along with the build and deployment logs that result from running it. - Usage data. CPU and memory metrics for your running deployments, sampled periodically so you and we can see resource usage. These samples are kept for 7 days.
- Communications. If we send you a deployment status email, we process your email address for that purpose.
What we don't collect
No cookies. No analytics or advertising trackers. No third-party tracking scripts of any kind, on this site or in the Himalaya dashboard — the dashboard stores your session in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie.
How we use your information
To operate and improve the service, authenticate you, build and run your deployments, notify you about their status, and respond when you contact us for support.
Who we share it with
- GitHub — to authenticate you and read the repositories you connect.
- Resend — to deliver deployment-status email.
- Our infrastructure providers — Hetzner (Germany), which runs your deployments, and Cloudflare, which serves this website. They process data solely to operate the service, not for their own marketing.
We don't sell your data to anyone.
Where your data lives
Deployment infrastructure runs in Germany (Hetzner). This website is served through Cloudflare's global network. GitHub and Resend process data as independent companies under their own privacy policies, from the United States.
Cookies
We don't use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. This site may show a one-time notice explaining that; dismissing it stores a small flag in your browser's local storage — not a cookie — purely so we don't show it again.
Data retention
We keep your account and project data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or a project, we delete the associated data, except where we need to keep it for legal, security, or fraud- prevention reasons. Usage samples are kept for 7 days regardless.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to how we use it. To make a request, email us at inquires@legal.8848lab.org.
Children's privacy
Himalaya and Peak aren't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever it changes. For material changes, we'll post a notice on this site or email you directly.
